Leadership Valor: Passing the Executive Baton

Rita Bailey, former VP of Learning for Southwest Airlines and Phillip Tanzilo, MBA, MHRM, CPLP are co-authoring a book to allow business leaders to share and learn from what other companies are doing to prepare for the rapidly shifting workforce landscape, "Leadership Valor: Passing theExecutive Baton." This topic reaches across international borders regardless of company size--small, mid, or large.

The world is shrinking---in more ways than one. Boomers are retiring and there are four generations in the workforce today. Boomers have managed to boomers for generations. Each generation requires a unique approach. If someone did not "work out," it is not as simple as it was before to find someone else. Trade secrets go the competition and the talent pool is shrinking.

Corporate turnover is at an all time high. How can companies close the back door on turnover and groom their corporate leadership for the future? How do we keep and grow our talent?

In summary, it will take VALOR, a unique courage to step-out-of-the-box and apply new strategies as we approach a shrinking talent pool to fill executive roles and maintain a sustainable competitive advantage in the workplace.

HOW DO YOU DEFINE LEADERSHIP VALOR?

WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY DOING TO PREPARE FOR THIS SHIFT IN THE WORKFORCE? We want to know. Your solutions may hold the potential to be a part of our book as we spotlight companies from around the globe.

With the current economic climate and teh events of the past 12 months, the boomer retirement "boom" is perhaps being put at bay ever so briefly.

This has the potential to make it more challenging for those companies to realize that it will going to shift to becoming an employee's market in the near future. Companies experiencing the huge influx of Resumes for one position, and hiring people at lower wages need to be prepared to make the shift at a strategic time to preserve their talent resources from jumping ship for the next best offer once it comes along. And it will.
